The latest session of the Healthy Lifestyles Project brought an explosion of color, creativity, and brand-new skills to the classroom as students explored Pop Art printmaking for the first time. Inspired by the legendary Andy Warhol, the young artists learned about his iconic use of repetition, bold colors, and everyday imagery before applying these techniques to their own lino print designs.
Using fruit and vegetables as their subject matter, the students carefully carved their designs into lino blocks before inking them up and printing in vibrant, eye-catching colors. The bold, high-contrast prints reflected the spirit of Pop Art, transforming familiar foods into striking works of art. Teachers noted that for many, this was the first time they had ever worked with lino printing, making the session an exciting opportunity to develop new artistic skills.
The process encouraged students to think differently about art and experiment with new techniques, while also reinforcing the project’s core themes of healthy eating and creativity. Their final prints—layered, bright, and full of character—showcased their enthusiasm, adaptability, and newfound confidence in printmaking.
This session proved that by blending art history with hands-on practice, students can gain a deeper appreciation for different creative styles while expanding their own artistic abilities. Andy Warhol’s influence lives on in their playful, dynamic fruit and veg prints, celebrating both artistic expression and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
